A new publication is available  - 1851 CENSUS INDEX CD. This is a fully searchable CD, covering all the parishes of Stirlingshire, Clackmannan as well as Boness & Carriden.
(The data contained on the CD is the same data as the printed booklets but has the advantage of being fully searchable by Surname, Forename, Age and Parish)

Publication - Census 1851 following a review of our publications showed that, in some of the earlier volumes, the birth parish of the individuals had not been recorded. This information is now available to view/download.

We have 'discovered' at Falkirk Archives (Callendar House) burial data for Dennyloanhead, which is part of Denny parish. the data has now been transcribed and added to our Burial Indexes.

'Who Do You Think You Are?' with Nick Barratt. 

Wednesday 27th September in The Albert Hall, Stirling, at 7.30 p.m.  Ticket price £5.00.

Dr Nick Barratt's recent credits include the double-BAFTA nominated 'Who Do You Think You Are?' and the BAFTA-nominated Seven Wonders of the Industrial World. He has written several books and is also a columnist for the Daily Telegraph. He will talk about 'Who Do You Think You Are?' and its huge impact on family history, and will also sign copies of his book, which will be available for purchase on the night.

Census 1851 Indexes - The indexes for Denny (2 vol) and Strathblane, have just been published and are now available, for further details refer to the publication section . These are the final two publications that complete the indexing of the 1851 census.

 As part of the BBC’s Family History weekend Stirling Council Library Service and Central Scotland Family History Society will hold a workshop in Bridge of Allan Library, Fountain Road, on Saturday 11th February.

 Just starting out? Come along and find out where to begin.

  Hit a brick wall in your research?  Come along and get expert advice on where to go next.

 The workshop will run between 2.00 p.m. – 3.30 p.m. and anyone interested in family history will be very welcome.
